Reaching Out

[Image by W+K Studio, via Design Crush]
It is still unbelievable to see the amount of destruction and displacement from the tsunami in Japan... If you'd like to reach out and donate to relief efforts, I've listed a few ways to do so below.

-Donate via the Red Cross website or text 90999 to REDCROSS.

-Hilda Grahnat has set up a 'Help Japan' shop. The selected prints are photographs she took on her trip to Japan in December. All proceeds will go to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

-Kelly Beall has compiled a list of artwork created in response to the tsunami. Find the prints on her blog, Design Crush. 100% of the proceeds will go to relief and rebuilding in Japan.

-Whimsy and Spice is also donating 15% of the proceeds from their tasty treats to tsunami relief efforts through 3/18.

In light of these reputable avenues to donate, I'd like to pass along this note I read over the weekend: Dear anyone who says if we get x followers or retweets we'll donate money to Japan. Shut up and donate. Real philanthropy is anonymous & not contingent.

Please reach out to those in need by taking initiative and making a donation. It's the least we can do in response to this tragedy.
